Covid-19 plays a very long game, as symptoms linger for months

Study finally vindicates victims who have been living with symptoms including psychosis and loss of sight

“Long Covid” is real and patients really do suffer debilitating symptoms for many months after they recover from coronavirus, experts have confirmed.

Groups supporting Covid-19 survivors had said doctors were dismissing ongoing problems or misdiagnosing ongoing effects as chronic fatigue syndrome. But in the first study to show a conclusive pattern, researchers at North Bristol NHS Trust found 75% of coronavirus patients at Bristol’s Southmead Hospital still suffered problems three months later.

Symptoms included breathlessness, fatigue and muscle ache, leaving victims struggling to wash, dress or return to work...
