Tweet in chief Trump hastily deletes ‘white power’ vid, but it’s too late

Donald Trump triggered outrage in the US on Sunday after he retweeted a clip of a supporter yelling “white power”.

The tweet, which the president later deleted, showed a video taken at a rally near Orlando, Florida. Riding a golf cart, one attendee raised a fist and shouted “white power”, apparently in response to an anti-Trump protester.

A White House spokesperson said later Trump had not heard the offending portion of the video. But the damage appeared to have been done, with Tim Scott, the Republicans’ sole black senator, calling it offensive...
