The Duke of Sussex is reportedly finding life in California more difficult than anticipated
When, at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, it transpired that Prince Harry was reportedly finding life in Malibu “a bit challenging”, the UK winced. It was the optics: the $14.5m, five-acre Megxit mansion in which he and his wife are now enduring lockdown, juxtaposed with the searing selfies of UK National Health Service (NHS) nurses after nine hours in intensive care wards.
The days spent engrossed in poolside plans for the launch of the couple’s non-profit organisation, Archewell, “a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action”, while other members of the royal family, such as Queen Elizabeth and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were demonstrating that strength daily, and all the action seemed to be taking place back in Britain.
Two weeks and a couple of highly indiscreet charity food drop-offs later, new murmurs of malcontent reached Britons from across the pond: Harry, it is said, “cannot believe” how his life has been turned upside down...
