Top chefs mourn Gary Rhodes, UK gastronomy’s ‘shining star’

‘MasterChef’ and ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ host, who has died at 59, hailed for putting British cuisine on the map

The TV chef Gary Rhodes has died at the age of 59 in Dubai “with his beloved wife Jennie by his side”, his family has revealed.

Known for his distinctive spiked hairstyle and love for British cuisine, Rhodes worked in a number of restaurants in London throughout the 1990s before making his big break on screen at the age of 27.
