We head to New Mexico to check out the world's only commercial spaceport as it prepares for its first paying passengers
The runway stretched out to the horizon, shimmering in the heat. The jagged peaks of the Organ Mountains rose ahead in the distance; endless red sand, dotted with shrubs, flanked the runway on either side. All was peaceful in the New Mexico desert. Then the acceleration kicked in.
Faster and faster we sped, hurtling down the runway towards a spot directly in front of the spaceport.
