Samantha Markle wants a piece of that royal scandal too
Will it never end? Now Meghan’s half sister says it's is a 'huge insult' that her father wasn't given a coat of arms
Meghan Markle’s half sister has said it is a “huge insult” that her father was not given a coat of arms in the same way the Middleton family was.
Michael Middleton was given his own coat of arms after his daughter married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge.
Samantha Markle said: “To exclude him off a coat of arms is really stripping him of an honour and it’s a huge insult.
“After a heart attack that would be cruel and isolating.”
She also said the royal family had no right to feel superior to the Markle family.“The royals had generations of scandal in their own family.
“You’ve got inbreeding, you’ve got substance abuse, you’ve got alcohol abuse, you’ve got infidelity.
“On what grounds could the royals feel that the Markles are somehow not worthy?
“That’s the pot calling the kettle black.”
Meghan Markle’s father has been seen for the first time since his daughter’s wedding, returning home to Mexico to recuperate from heart surgery.
Thomas Markle, 73, watched the ceremony at a friend’s house in California, he said, telling celebrity gossip site TMZ: “My baby looked beautiful.”
He told the site that he had been suffering from chest pains, and last week had stents inserted into his heart.
On Monday afternoon he returned to his cliff-top home in Rosarito Beach. He was driven home by his friend Lori Davies, 38, with whom he has been spotted dining at restaurants in the area.
Thomas Markle, a retired Hollywood lighting director, said on Saturday that he deeply regretted not being at Windsor Castle but that he sent his daughter a text message saying he loved her.“The service was beautiful and it’s history,” he said.
“I will always regret not being able to be there and not being able to hold my daughter’s hand.
“My baby girl is a duchess and I love her so much.”
He had been left embarrassed after it emerged that he had agreed with a paparazzi agency to stage a series of photos, in a bid to improve his image. The fall-out from the revelations of the staged photos initially made him want to stay away from the wedding. He then changed his mind, insisting he still wanted to be there. But ultimately doctors decided that his heart condition prevented travel, he said.Thomas Markle said that watching the ceremony made him nostalgic, adding: “When you watch your child get married, every thought goes through your mind, every memory from the first day she was born, the first time I held her.”
He said he was yet to choose a wedding gift for the couple, but hoped to do so soon, when his health recovered.
He has also told friends and family that he hopes the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit him soon, after their honeymoon. And he made a plea for his raucous relatives to leave the newlyweds alone.
“Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything.”
