Leinster may have bigger fish to fry but they’ve insulted the URC
Sending a ‘B’ side to SA may be taken as an affront by the Sharks and Stormers but it could work in SA ’s favour
United Rugby Championship runaway log leaders Leinster have done the competition a disservice in sending a severely weakened squad to SA. They’ve also insulted the South African challenge, but at the same time strengthened the Sharks’ and Stormers’ play-off prospects.
Leinster lead the competition by 10 points with three matches to play, the first two of those being in Durban and Cape Town over the next fortnight.
Their leadership will make a case that it was a no-brainer to leave the bulk of their many current Irish internationals back in Dublin because the Champions Cup quarterfinal against England’s Leicester Tigers follows the fortnight in SA...
