The underdogs have struck it big under the ‘new normal’

Clubs have done some wonderful things to win new supporters while resuscitating the flame in the old ones

It’s been intriguing this 2020/21 Premier Soccer League season. 

Well, it may not be so fascinating for the giant Soweto clubs that were used to legions of religious fans pouring into stadiums to back them week in and week out before Covid-19 struck and changed a lot of things in SA’s professional football.

But for a couple of the so-called “small clubs” without much fan support or big budgets to speak of, playing under the “new normal” with no-one on the stands seems to suit and inspire them...
