1931 — Winger Morris Zimerman and centre Franky Waring score tries as the Springboks beat Ireland 8-3 at Lansdowne Road in Dublin to win the second test of their British tour. Skipper and flyhalf Bennie Osler landed one conversion. His opposite number, Laurence McMahon, kicked a penalty for the home side.
1987 — Brian Mitchell makes the fourth defence of his WBA junior-lightweight title when he stops Salvatore Curcetti of Italy at Capo d’Orlando in Sicily. Mitchell made a record 12 defences of his belt, but only four of those were stoppages...
