All Blacks 57-Boks 0. What happened in just two years?

On September 16 2017, I was at the North Harbour Stadium in Albany when New Zealand put 57 past SA without reply. It was a complete performance from the All Blacks and one that condemned the Boks to the abyss.

They gave SA no inch, with the hallmark of New Zealand's domination being Anton Leinert-Brown bouncing Handre Pollard on the way to the last try of the game. The Boks were crestfallen, out-thought and out-muscled. At the time, New Zealand looked like they’d cakewalk their way to their third consecutive title. 

When one looks back at that match, not much has changed from a player perspective – 14 of SA’s players in that match-day squad were in the Bok 2019 World Cup squad, with 12 of them in the match-day 23. New Zealand had 15 players from that match-day 23 at the 2019 World Cup...
