The SA team that failed to win a medal in Doha still ranks as one of the country’s better outfits to have competed at a track-and-field world championships.

For the fifth time since SA started competing at the IAAF showpiece in 1993, they were unable to score a podium finish. 

On the placing table – which measures all top-eight positions – the SA class of 2019 achieved five top-eights to finish 20th overall, beating the medal-less SA teams of 2007 (35th), 2005 (40th), 1995 (34th) and 1993 (35th)...
