1968 — Wingers Jannie Engelbrecht and Syd Nomis score two of SA’s three tries as they beat France 16-11 in Colombes to wrap up the two-match series 2-0. Scrumhalf and captain Dawie de Villiers went over for the third try.
2002 — The Springboks lose to Scotland for the first time since 1969, going down 6-21 at Murrayfield. It’s also the second straight defeat of their end-of-year tour. Flyhalf Butch James converted two tries for a team that fielded four debutants, including props CJ van der Linde and Deon Carstens. Scotland scored two tries, through eighthman Budge Poutney and wing Nikki Walker.
