Joburg Water joins search for boy in manhole

The utility will isolate reservoirs and sewer network points to assist search and rescue teams in finding the child

Johannesburg Water (JW) said its reservoirs and sewer network points will be isolated on Tuesday night to aid in the search for a six-year-old boy who fell down a manhole while playing with friends in Soweto on June 12.

Khayalethu Magadla plunged into an uncovered manhole at a popular park in Mtambo Street, Dlamini.

“The technologies used to assist with a more detailed search ... did not provide results and therefore the entity will be isolating specific reservoirs and direct feeds, as well as plugging localised sewer lines to reduce the flow into the larger sewer network...
