Slow drip of reality sets in on day one of water-shedding in nine dry towns
Anxious residents in Eastern Cape wait to see how outages will pan out, but it won’t be as simple as load-shedding
Day one of water-shedding for the Kouga local municipality saw some residents laugh off the crisis while others held their breath to see how the new rationing system unfolds.
The municipality said on Friday that, starting this week, water-shedding will be implemented from 10am to 4pm across the area of the Eastern Cape, about 80km west of Nelson Mandela Bay.
It encompasses nine towns: Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Oyster Bay, Patensie, Hankey, Loerie and Thornhill, as well as various smaller settlements and agricultural nodes...
