A new business plan for the island is good news for visitors and the venue, which receives little state funding
Robben Island looks set to welcome back yachts to its harbour and walking tours along its shores as part of a new push for more visitors and revenue.
Since becoming a museum, the former prison has been largely out of bounds to all but staff and daytime visitors. But earlier this year government stakeholders agreed the island was too reliant on state funding and needed to generate more income.
As a result, yachts, walking tours, conferencing and weekend accommodation are all on the cards as part of an improved visitor offering at the Unesco World Heritage Site...
