Deadly robbery pushes Diepsloot residents to breaking point

The Johannesburg township of Diepsloot descended into chaos on Wednesday as the community protested against two murders at the weekend and the police’s apparent fear to attend to one of the crime scenes.

Lodrik Mbiza, the neighbour of one of the slain people in Diepsloot Ext 1, told Sunday Times Daily a man in his 20s was shot dead during a robbery on Saturday night.

He said he was woken up by a woman shouting and people banging on a shack in the same yard where he is staying. He then heard the sound of a gunshot ringing through the night...
