Homeless fear end of Covid state of disaster could trigger evictions
Regulations saved District 6 informal settlers from removal, but they worry they won’t have that protection this time
Many South Africans are looking forward to the national state of disaster being lifted, but the prospect has given homeless Cape Town pensioner Elizabeth Davids sleepless nights.
Davids, 64, is worried the change could open the floodgates for eviction of homeless people, which has been banned by Covid-19 disaster management regulations .
