CleanCity SA groups turn out every Saturday, come rain or shine or Christmas Day
An incentive-based volunteer litter collection programme in Johannesburg's inner city is paying off, with locals saying the area has become safer.
Margaret Nkomo is one of 25 street traders in Hillbrow who work under CleanCity SA, an environmental group focused on cleaning up the inner city.
From Monday to Friday she sells fruit and vegetables at the corner of Banket and Pretoria streets, and on Saturday she goes back to clean up the area along both roads. ..
