Zulu royals fight on, despite Cyril’s nod for king

President’s recognition has not stopped a bid to halt Misuzulu’s installation as Zulu king


A faction of the Zulu royal family opposed to the ascension of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini has laid out its reasons for appealing a court judgment which elevated him to the throne.

On Wednesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that he formally recognised Misuzulu KaZwelithini as king of amaZulu (https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2022-03-16-ramaphosa-officially-recognises-prince-misuzulu-as-the-zulu-king/) — removing the last hurdle to replacing his late father.

But that did not deter those who challenge the legality of his appointment...
