Our little warrior: Durban doctors give tiny triplet a new lease on life

The eldest of triplets, 10-month-old David Burrows flew from Saudi Arabia to Durban in July amid the unrest to have a massive life-saving operation.

David was born in Saudi Arabia with a heart defect called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).

At the time it was asymptomatic, and doctors told his parents not to worry about it. But in February this year he went into heart failure. He was in ICU for a week. Doctors at three different hospitals told his parents that they couldn’t operate because he was too light, or he had to wait until different milestones. They kept moving the goalposts...
