Wits University’s medical school has suspended the application of a controversial standard-setting tool that uses the mark of top performers in a class to determine the pass mark for the whole group.
The assessment method for tests and exams, known as Cohen 60, is the subject of an investigation by the public protector’s office after the mother of an expelled medical student alleged it was unfair and prejudiced students.
Wits, however, told Times Select that Cohen 60 has been suspended for this year “due to the changes necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic”...
