Chill, Africa, we’re going to be fine; others not so much

You’ll be one in 78 million people if you’re still alive in 2073.

That’s the year SA is expected to hit its peak population, according to an international team of researchers who have reported their projections in The Lancet (https://www.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/lancet/PIIS0140-6736(20)30677-2.pdf).

Between then and the end of the century, the population is expected to decline to 74.69 million, still almost 15 million more than Stats SA’s most up-to-date estimate of the current population...
