The combination of lockdown, boredom and melancholy led to Maya Koopman, 10, heading for the kitchen, armed with her chef’s apron and piping bags.
When schools closed in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Maya was sad, but it was the loss of her aunt and nanny that left the once bubbly Grade 4 pupil almost inconsolable.
