A life orientation assignment allegedly circulated to schools by an education district office in Gauteng has been slammed for having racial slurs and sexually explicit content.

Rob Ferreira High School in Mpumalanga was forced to apologise profusely to pupils and parents last week for the “offensive” assignment that a teacher gave to a Grade 11 class, and which was sourced from a Gauteng school’s website.

The assignment – which formed part of the holiday programme after the country went into lockdown in March – was said to have been distributed to schools by the Ekurhuleni North district office in Gauteng...
