Four runners from the Bluff are ready to hit the tar to raise money for people who lost their jobs in lockdown

Four runners from Durban’s Bluff are part of a worldwide community that’s not taking the opportunity to relax in lockdown, opting instead for a 90km virtual run.

The Race the Comrades Legends virtual event is this year’s compromise for a race which usually brings runners from all over the world to KwaZulu-Natal to test their endurance. On Sunday, they will compete from their homes or surrounding environments. And for the first time, their kit will include a mask and sanitiser.

Wesley Hawkey, Romondo Thompson, Robert Lagane and Johnathan Heslop are planning their big run to raise funds for local community members, many of whom have lost their jobs during lockdown. ..
