Cape Town’s Eli Williams is just 11 years old and already his work is in the hands of a collector

When Eli Max Williams drew a 3D elephant from memory at three, his father thought it was a stroke of luck. But by the time Eli’s first oil painting sold for R10,000 to a collector — a replica of Van Gogh’s self-portrait, which he painted at nine years old — they knew he had extraordinary talent.

Eli won first and second prize for pastel drawings his art teacher entered in the National Eisteddfod Academy’s creative arts category last year. He also came in the top 20 in SA in the AMESA Mathematics Challenge.
