Cold snap brings gales, rain, snow … and a bigger Covid-19 threat

As winter arrives a few days early, experts warn colder temperatures will help spread the virus

SA’s cold front will help keep the country indoors but not exactly safe during lockdown as flooding and gale-force winds come with the winter snap.

And scientists warned this week that the onset of the flu season brings the added threat of a heightened spread of the coronavirus.

Snow that has decorated the peaks of the Western Cape and blanketed parts of the Northern Cape is making its way into the eastern parts of the country, and many have woken to foggy windows and misty morning coffees as temperatures in Gauteng dropped to an expected -1ºC on Tuesday evening. ..
