Baking is offering many South Africans an escape from anxieties about job security, finances and safety
The demand for eggs has gone through the roof as South Africans beat, knead and fold away their stress and anxiety during lockdown.
SA’s egg industry says it has benefited from the baking boom, with significant demand and a boost in sales since lockdown was enforced nearly two months ago.
Mogala Mamabolo, general manager of the Egg Organisation, which is part of the SA Poultry Association, said: “Our individual producer members have reported an increase of between 50 and 60% in sales.”..
