Carmen van Wyk, whose child was allegedly killed by a parolee, has warned the government to screen prisoners before releasing them en masse in a bid stop the spread of Covid-19 behind bars.
Van Wyk’s eight-year-old daughter, Tazne, disappeared on February 7 on her way to a tuck shop close to her home in Elsies River, Cape Town. Two weeks later, she was found dead in a stormwater drain about 100km away. Moyhdian Pangarker, 54, was arrested in connection with the murder and kidnapping.
