The General Council of the Bar is calling upon parliament to reconsider the decision taken by President Cyril Ramaphosa that judges’ salaries would not be increased this year.

Council chairperson Craig Watt-Pringle says judges now earn 85% less in real terms than they did 10 years ago.

This comes after the announcement made by Ramaphosa that he did not intend to increase judges’ salaries in the 2020/21 financial year...
