Two die as Mpum ANC power struggle turns ugly

Nominations for provincial leaders suspended after the contest resulted in two fatal stabbings at the weekend

The ANC in Mpumalanga has suspended branch general meetings after two party members were beaten to death at the weekend “due to intolerance of comrades regarding leadership preferences”.

This was the latest in a string of violent attacks over the past weeks centred on nominations for provincial leaders for the upcoming elective conference scheduled for April.

Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane and acting provincial chairperson of the ANC Mandla Ndlovu are contesting the chairmanship position that was left vacant by David Mabuza when he was elected deputy president of the ANC in 2017...
