A spa, gym, and four pools await Saffers returning from Wuhan

The four-star, 150-bed resort will be home to scores of South Africans as they endure their quarantine

The Ranch Resort outside Polokwane is normally home to those wanting to use the resort’s golf course, spa, conference centres and one of four pools.

But now, for the next two or three weeks, it will be home to the scores of South Africans being repatriated from Wuhan, China, amid growing fears over the spread of the novel coronavirus, or Covid-19.

Health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Thursday evening announced that the Protea Hotels venue – on a 1,000ha nature conservancy replete with various game – will be used the quarantine point for those estimated 122 South Africans being flown home from Wuhan, the coronavirus epicentre...
