Reiger Park pupils break the cycle and upgrade to bicycles

The introduction of cycling is changing the lives of children in the gang-ridden community

Grade 10 pupil Navan Johnson’s life has changed since he joined the cycling team in his Oosrand High School in Reiger Park, a crime-ridden community in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.

Navan, 15, who joined the school’s team in 2018, says substance abuse is tearing apart his neighbourhood.

He says in his community, they see people using drugs in front of young children...
