Prasa legal heads slapped down in fight with Mbalula’s rescue man
Leaked memo by rail agency execs points to growing tensions as corruption court battles loom
Weeks before a commuter lobby group took transport minister Fikile Mbalula to court over his appointment of Prasa’s administrator, the rail agency’s new boss was warned in an internal memo about the potential unlawfulness of his nomination.
On December 9, Mbalula announced the dissolution of Prasa’s interim board and placed the entity under administration, appointing Bongisizwe Mpondo as administrator.
On January 14, Prasa’s legal head, Martho Ngoye, and legal services general manager, Fani Dingiswayo, penned a letter to Mpondo warning that his appointment could be declared unlawful. Dingiswayo, who has declined to comment, has since been suspended for unknown reasons...
