Avis to pay R1m for unfairly firing manager embroiled in office feud

Avis should have tried much harder to resolve a row over commissions that set two managers at each other’s throats, a judge has ruled.

Now the car leasing giant, whose advertising slogan is “We try harder”, has to pay compensation of nearly R1m after it unfairly fired one of them.
