Cops pay the price for jailing innocent men in a hellish cell

They were visiting a flat that was raided by cops. Next thing, they were jailed with ‘severely distressing’ cellmates

Six men who were wrongly arrested then kept in a filthy cell for 39 hours have been awarded a total of R415,000 in damages.

The arrests happened after a funeral in Port St John’s when the men went to a nearby flat for food, according to a judgment last week in Mthatha High Court.
