It rained, it poured, but SA is still in the midst of a drought

Drought-management specialists say there has not been enough summer rain

Despite recent rains, agricultural specialists say SA is still in the midst of a drought disaster.

“We are facing severe droughts in certain municipal areas, with some in the fifth consecutive year,” said Christo van der Rheede, deputy CEO of Agri SA.

“Droughts ... in certain provincial municipal areas ... constantly aggravate social economic development. Employment will be affected, which will affect the local economy in each drought-stricken town.”..
