For the first time, a cheetah born in captivity in the UK and raised as a pet is to be released into the wild in SA.
Saba, a two-and-a-half-year-old male, has been hand-reared by conservationist Damian Aspinall – whose father, John, was a zoo owner and Cape Town property owner – and his wife, Victoria.
After being bottle-fed as a cub and allowed the run of the Aspinalls’ luxurious Kent home, Saba and his brother Nairo are set to spend the rest of their lives roaming the Great Karoo...
