At 12, she’s written five books. Now Joburg girl is an award-winner

Stacey Fru wrote her first book at the age of seven without telling her parents about her ambitions. Today she is 12 years old and has just won an international child prodigy award for her writing skills.

“My mom did her master’s degree without telling anyone, and I also wanted to do the same when I wrote my first book,” she told Times Select with a confident smile, referring to her mother’s qualifications in communications studies.

Fru, who is from Bramley, north of Johannesburg, was one of 100 child prodigies from 18 countries to receive a Global Child Prodigy Award (GCPA) in New Delhi, India, in the first week of January...
