Hot on their tracks: billions in dodgy Prasa contracts probed

SIU, Hawks and Zondo chase R1.57bn in deals as Mbalula bemoans additional pain courtesy of vandals and thieves

Contracts worth R1.57bn were awarded irregularly at the Passenger Rail Agency of SA and are now the subject of a Special Investigating Unit and Hawks investigation, Prasa administrator Bongisizwe Mpondo said on Wednesday.

He told Times Select that since he took over as administrator at the state entity he has discovered that irregular expenditure was as high as R30bn in the 2018/19 financial year.
