She swore she’d never tackle the gruelling rally. Now the SA woman biker is in a tight race to the finish in Saudi Arabia


Kirsten Landman is on her way to finishing the biggest race of her career: the Dakar Rally.

This the first time that the Dakar has been held in Saudi Arabia, a country which, ironically, only recently allowed women to drive.

Last Sunday, on January 5, Landman took her place at the start. She is currently in 62nd place, up from 85 at the beginning of the race. She is competing against 103 riders, and is one of only five female bike riders...
