Be warned: those illegal gambling spots are a bad bet

Even if you do win big, you’ll find getting your hands on your big payout very tricky, the gambling board says


The National Gambling Board (NGB) is calling on South Africans to be wary of illegal gambling establishments and is urging the public to report any suspected illegal gambling operations.

NGB spokesperson Bryan Arumugam told Times Select their biggest threat, and which will affect punters during the festive season, was illegal gambling.

“Any form of gambling that is not offered by a licensed operator is illegal. A common form of illegal gambling is online gambling, where casino-type games can be accessed at venues styled as internet lounges, or also through smartphones and laptops,” Arumugam said...
