Special needs school ‘tried to bury rape charge’

The Gauteng education department has placed a staff member at a special needs school on precautionary suspension after he allegedly raped an 18-year-old pupil.

The staff member from Adelaide Tambo School in Soweto allegedly raped the pupil, who suffers from a sleep disorder, as she was sleeping in the dormitory on October 21 while her peers were in class.

Despite being severely traumatised by the incident, the pupil, who was in the midst of writing her Grade 9 end-of-year exams, still managed to complete writing all her papers...
