Landlocked yacht club says its sailors can’t get to the sea
After a legal battle over its lease the Mossel Bay club says its development programme is now stuck in a field
Mossel Bay is a sailing landmark – the place where explorer Bartolomeu Dias first realised he had discovered a shortcut to India.
But there are no such shortcuts for development sailors of the Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club who must drag their boats 800m from a field to the sea now that the club has been evicted from the harbour.
The club has effectively been mothballed since January when it lost a court battle against the Transnet National Ports Authority to do with a price-adjusted lease the club was no longer able to afford.
