A member of the University of Pretoria’s council resigned in November amid accusations that the process to appoint a chief operating officer “was not honest or transparent”.
Russell Loubser, a former CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, said if the university intended not to appoint a white candidate, it needed to be brave enough to say so when it advertised the position – otherwise, the process is unfair.
