It’s close to ‘hell’ in this town, but not hot enough for a record

It wasn’t quite the 50°C reported on in the media, but residents say the Northern Cape town of Vioolsdrif is still as hot as hell.

“It is like living in hell,” says Lee-Anne Weber, one of the managers at the Orange River Rafting Lodge just outside the town.
