Just over three years after being voted out of power in Johannesburg, the ANC is back and officially in charge of SA’s most important metro.
The party masterminded a coup, using councillors who were in the DA-led governing coalition – including from inside the DA itself. The election of Geoff Makhubo on Wednesday left the DA and EFF stunned after it transpired that at least three DA councillors may have voted with the ANC.
