At-risk girls surf the wave to better lives

NGO pulls girls from the grip of poverty in Durban, helping them use surfing to leave life on the street behind

Girls in Durban’s grimy Point Precinct – exposed to a life of homelessness, prostitution and drugs – are trading the streets for the surf.

NGO Girls Surf Too, established as an offshoot of the Surfers Not Street Children, aims to pluck at-risk girls from dangerous situations using the pull of the waves.
