Gauteng’s two biggest cities are without permanent mayors.

The City of Johannesburg will be mayorless for at least six days after its council failed to elect a replacement for Herman Mashaba during a highly anticipated contest between the ANC, the DA and the EFF on Thursday.

Meanwhile, further north, City of Tshwane mayor Stevens Mokgalapa was placed on special leave on Thursday. This after the leaking of an audio recording, purportedly of a conversation with transport MMC Stella Senkubuge and the pair being intimate. They have both said the last part of the audio was doctored...
