Ready, steady, shop, as retailers prep for Black Friday

The stores are all set to be shopped out. This is how they’re preparing for the annual sales jamboree

SA’s major retailers have spent months meticulously planning for Black Friday – from bolstering security and implementing crowd control measures to extending trading hours and taking care of parking needs.

Massmart, which has Game and Makro in its stable, will be increasing staffing and security levels at each store to “ensure improved control of customers entering and exiting our stores”, said Massmart spokesperson Refilwe Boikanyo.

“We have also extended trading hours at our selected stores, and the duration of our Black Friday promotions smooths the transaction flow over a number of days rather than 24 hours.”..
